1^st of May we celebrated National Labour Day.

On Sunday the 13^th we gave gifts to our sweet mothers (Mother Day).

May activities in Croatia

In May we had fun outside since the weather has mostly been hot and sunny. On May 29th we went outside to take photos of the nature around us.

We saw flowers (buttercups),

pine cones,

mushrooms and acorns,

trees,

and off in the forest we found:

beautiful clovers and a bumblebee,

various  grass and flowers,

 

 a butterfly,

a bee,

so we searched for more interesting plants and animals in the forrest. 

 There was a cherry tree with lots of fresh cherries.

Our adventure continued in the school garden, but the rain soon rushed us inside the classroom.

May weather report from Spain

DATE and TIME: May 23rd, twenty past twelve.

THE SKY: Blue with a few clouds.

TEMPERATURE: 19º C - 66º F

WIND:  South east wind but very light..

ANIMALS: Lots of birds, there are nests everywhere!!! horses, cows , sheep,etc.

PLANTS: Trees have got all their new leaves and many already have small fruits. Our vegetable garden is great, beans and peas are almost ready to eat!!

CLOTHES: Depending on the day, clothes for rain or summer clothes.

GAMES: Outdoor games.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES: Fishing trout and other fish in the river, helping in the farm with the cows and the vegetable garden.

HOLIDAYS: May 1st we celebrated work day and May 6th mother´s day.

ASSOCIATIONS TO TODAY´S WEATHER: Laziness, sleeping under the sun, going to the swimming pool and the beach, etc

School Day

On 25th May we celebrated the School Day and had performances, award ceremony and the exhibition of all that we do in school. Along with that, we presented our project The View from Our Window as well as other eTwinning projects. We are very happy to say that the visitors liked the exhibition and that our school presented its work well. You can see some of the pictures here as well as some backstage videos of the performances.

Preparing for School Day

During this month we are preparing for School Day tomorrow. We are going to display the exhibition of our eTwinning projects and all the things we did during the school year. Before that, we are going to have a school performance with awards for the best students and their accomplishments. While we were preparing for the exhibition, we made paper beads for bracelets and necklaces. This is how you make it. It is in Croatian, but you will see the procedure.

Croatia - May report

DATE and TIME:

18th of May at 14.20 p.m.

Today is a warm, sunny spring day.

THE SKY:

blue and clear

TEMRERATURE:

20˚C/68˚F

WIND:

There is light breeze.

ANIMALS

The insects are flying around. We can see bees, flies, spiders, ants, butterflies... The birds feed their young in the nests. Pets are happy and are losing their winter fur and are getting new, summer coat.

PLANTS

The trees are no longer blossoming, they have green leaves and early fruit. We can eat strawberries and cherries. The flowers such as pansies are still colourful, but tulips and daffodils are not.

CLOTHES

People can wear T-shirts and sweatshirts, light jackets and sneakers. Some days are very warm. When it is raining, people take raincoats and umbrellas. There have been a couple of thunderstorms because it got really hot.

GAMES:

Games we play are many and various. We play different sports and board games, as well as other games such as jumping over the string, hopscotch, tag etc.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES:

Walking, running, rollerskating, riding a bike, playing badminton, playing tennis, swimming in a pool, visiting town, shopping.

SPECIAL DAYS AND ACTIVITIES

·                     1st May – International Labour Day and bank holiday

·                     16th May – the Bishop Josip Mrzljak visited our school

·                     25th May – School Day – performances, awards and exhibitions for everybody to see

Spring in Maine

Our school garden. Right now there are lots of weeds, but we will be planting soon.

 

 We picked some chives and tried them.

Our chives are quite big; they are almost flowering.

It's FINALLY spring in Maine! The weather is beautiful, and it's getting warmer. Everything is growing, flowers are starting to bloom, and we are so glad to be able to wear shorts and sandals! We call Spring "Mud Season" here, because it rains a lot and everything is muddy. We like to make mud pies in the big puddle on our playground.

The trees have leaves! Everything is finally green! The grass is up, and they have been mowing around our school. We ate chives from our school garden. The crab apple trees have pink flowers and white flowers.

CLOTHES:

Shorts, T-shirts, muscle shirts, tank tops, sandals, crocs, flip-flops

FAMILY ACTIVITIES :

Playing ball, playing outside, kayaking, tennis, fishing, baseball, bicycling, going to the beach, hiking, planting and gardening. 

HOLIDAYS:

May Day, Mother's Day, Memorial Day

May Day is the first day of May and some of us make May baskets and surprise people with them. We hang them on their door.

Memorial Day is when we thank people who died in wars to keep our country free. We pray for them, and have a parade too.
