ANIMALS
We saw a squirrel's nest (a drey) high up in one of the trees. We were excited because we have been studying squirrels! We also saw some crows and a few seagulls.

biking, walking, gathering for our Thanksgiving feasts
Some of us will get our Christmas trees soon. Christmas tree farms are a business in Maine. We'll tell you more about them next month!
HOLIDAYS
The first Tuesday in November is Election Day. We have school, but everyone over 18 goes to vote for our political officers.
Veteran's Day is 11 November. This is a national holiday, and schools are closed. It is a day when we thank our veteran's for their service. This year we wrote to our teacher's father, who is a World War II veteran.
Thanksgiving is 24 November. It is a national holiday, and there is no school for us from 23-28 November. We are celebrating the harvest and our blessings. Families and friends
gather together for a big feast. Our Thanksgiving feast includes turkey, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie and apple pie. We are thankful for all the new friends we met doing this project!
