It was so windy that we came inside from recess quickly, so we are not in the picture this month!


ANIMALS:

None at all.

PLANTS:

Trees still have no leaves.

CLOTHES:
Long sleeves, long pants, warm jackets, boots, gloves, mittens, hats, snow pants.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES:
Keeping warm, planning gardens, waiting for spring.

HOLIDAYS:

17 March is St. Patrick's Day. We had fun today writing leprechaun stories, dressing in green, and looking for leprechaun gold.

We are having crazy weather here! On Monday it was 65F/18C and most of our snow melted. Last night it got very cold and windy, and it snowed again. We got about 1 inch (2.54cm) of snow. The forecast for this weekend is 70F/21C!!! Our usual March weather is chilly, and spring arrives midi-April. Spring is called Mud Season in Maine; we'll tell you all about it next month.

Autumn is here in New Zealand. Check out the creatures that we can see!

Spring is here

Spring and fresh rain go hand in hand. And that's why we went to our school computer room and each of us draw the solution tool for such days:

SNOW - FINALLY! by The Starfish, Maine, USA

We finally got a good amount of snow! School was closed yesterday because we had a snowstorm and we got 10 inches (25.4cm) of light, fluffy snow. It is gorgeous outside! We couldn't wait for recess. It was 14F/-10C outside, but the sun was shining and we were warm as toast. We made a video for you, and will post it soon. We have to enjoy the snow today, because the weather forecast for tomorrow is.... rain. Blech.

February Activies in Turkey

It is possible to see the power of the wind form the shaking of the flag :)

THE SKY:

It is almost cloudy and It is heavy rainy.It has been raining for five days andI t think we are going to be green like the trees because of too much rain J

THE TEMPERATURE:

17 degrees Celsius

WIND:

The wind is blowing from the South.We feel the gentle wind of sea.Tr rain clouds are moving regulary beacuse of the wind.It is posisble to see Brown spots on the glasses of window..It is said that this rain clouds are comenig from desert so they are full of dust and When It rains,It makes everywhere dirty…

ANIMALS:

It is possible to see snails around beacuse of the humid.but we couldnt take the photos..

PLANTS:

Grass is green and all the trees have started to be green again.Some of the trees have given the surprise of the spring.It is possinle to observe the new small leaves on the trees but they are so small..

CLOTHES:

Trousers,sometimes long sleeved-shirts ,tights,sweaters,coats,especially raincots,boots ,

jumpers and jeans.

GAMES:

Playing outside in the playground at the breaks,(of course when the rain stops  they are urgently to go out to play games ) playing marbles on the ground is the stil the most favourite activity,running and playing football,skipping rope,hide and seek are the other games that the students prefer.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES:

Going outside for walking ,family visitings

The students play outside during the day and when It is time to go home,they all spend their time at home.It is not easy to go out in the evening beacuse of the rain.Having chat with the family members,Watching film while eating popcorns.Nowadays Ithe students are so eager to go cinema to watch a  history film which is said It was so perfect and interesting..so probably the students will g oto watch this fiml with their fanilies.

HOLIDAYS:

In February we have no holiday again..just the weekends…We started the second term in February,6th ..so the students are stil under the effect of the fifteen days long holiday and february is passing make  the students  adapt to the new term….So we dont have holiday but It is possible to see the effect of the holiday on them.

CROATIA REPORT - FEBRUARY

DATE and TIME:

8th of February at 12.30 p.m.

Today is a cold and snowy winter day.

THE SKY:

grey, cloudy

TEMRERATURE:

-5˚C/23˚F

WIND:

It is not windy.

ANIMALS

The animals are hibernating. The snow has covered the mole hills, and birds hide in their nests. We play with our pets. There are crow nests and crows around the school.

PLANTS

Plants are covered with snow. The trees are bare.

CLOTHES

People wear long sleeves and shirts or pullovers, warm jackets, socks, jeans or trousers. To play in snow must wear a cap, scarf, gloves or mittens and warm boots or shoes. A lot of kids also wear ski suits to be extra warm.

GAMES:

We played games in the snow: footsteps in the snow, snow battle, making a snowman.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES:

Going to the old town of Cakovec for sledging and spending time outside in snow fun activities. Afterwards, parents prepare tea and warm cocoa to make us warm.

SPECIAL DAYS AND ACTIVITIES

·                     7th February – Safer Internet Day 2012 – older students made posters and presentations

·                     14th February – Valentine's Day – we sent love notes to each other and were extra loving on that day

·                     20th February – Carnival Day – the day we put on masks and have a school dance, eat doughnuts and make winter spirits go away to welcome spring

·                     29th February – we have an extra day int his year (leap year day).

CROATIA – FEBRUARY ACTIVITIES

February was indeed various. We had all sorts of weather, and FINALLY snow!!! :)

 Real winter weather was exquisite. We had a lot of fun in the snow, too. This game is called „Footsteps in the snow“. The teacher goes first and makes the footsteps and the students have to step in those footsteps.

We made a snowman, but the snow was dry so we couldn't make a big one. Of course, all hands together made it easier!

We used pine cones to make snowman's nose and eyes, and twigs for his arms.

Finally, we had a photo session with our snowman.

And tried to make it snow by throwing the dry snow up.

Some of us found big heaps of snow and used them to make a snowman.

The sky was perfectly blue and clear.

We saw mistletoe in the trees and some crows.

We always have beautiful view on the sunset in the evening. And with the snow it is so magical.

And then, by 20th February, the snow melted…

It was really sunny, but still cold.

We played dodgeball again,

And saw a cat…

In February we usually celebrate the carnival under the masks. Masks help us to scare away the winter spirits, and invite the spring. Here is the short video clip of the fun we had in our school dance:

 All in all it was an interesting month!

FEBRUARY WEATHER REPORT

DATE AND TIME: February 29th , 11.30 am

THE SKY:Foggy but the fog melted during the morning

TEMPERATURE: 10ºC - 50ºF

WIND: Light South wind.

ANIMALS: Lizards, insects, birds, some ducks fishing in the river.

PLANTS: The Mimosa tree is covered with flowers....

CLOTHES: Depending on the day or the time winter or spring clothes.

GAMES: Basketball, football, tennis, skipping. We are at school but some of our classmates are skiing!!. They are at a resort for three days.

FAMILY ACTIVITIES: Fishing, helping in the farm, playing card games, gardening, planting potatoes and peas, bottling the cider

HOLIDAYS: We celebrated Carnival at school on Friday 17th. We were disguised as athletes and spectators who took part in the first olimpic games. Then we had a long weekend (4 days)
